About Me!

Grayson is a trans masculine artist based in Portland, Oregon.

Their work largely reflects their experiences with being queer and the intersection of that identity and portraiture, in addition to their own journey with mental health. They are currently working on getting their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and are expected to graduate in Fall of 2025.

Most recently they completed a body of work revolving around the use of colorful lighting to
represent their bisexual identity, while celebrating their femininity as a trans-masculine non
binary person. The work was a reclamation of their body, which for so long they have had a fraught relationship with. Currently they are further exploring how the studio setting can both
challenge and embolden them to push their portraiture further, how utilizing different lighting
schemes can really emphasize the drama, emotion or aesthetic they are in pursuit of.

Outside of their work, they are an enthusiastic proponent of learning how to maintain stability of
one’s mental health and wellness, and how establishing a good foundation can lead to longevity
in one’s college career and beyond. Their aim for their practice is to embolden other queer
people, or other people with mental illness diagnoses, and perhaps to see a bit of themself reflected. You are not alone in your experience.
